My duties as Managing Director of a Company providing technical management, crew management, accounting services and fleet operation services to a fleet up to 19 dry cargo vessels classed by RS and LR, ISM certified by DNV and RS include: - Office manning with an adequate and sufficient number of staff to ensure a professional management of the fleet. - Establishing vessels technical and economical maintenance standard and polices in compliance with National, International and Classification requirements. - Keeping Principals and Operators informed of any irregularities regarding the vessels performance or maintenance standard, in order to minimise losses due to commercial reasons. - Ensuring defects and potential dangers identified by the Company employees ashore and on board are dealt with and the necessary resources are released to take proper action. - Implementation, overall functioning and improvement of the SQM System within the Company. - Establishing Company crewing policy and ensuring compliance with the crew agreements. - Dealing with P&I/H&M/Charterers claims in association with Claims and Insurance party appointed by the Principals. - Establishing principal and policy making decisions within the Company. - Monitoring the Fleet operating expenses against approved budgets. - Establishing purchasing policies and logistic services influencing the operating cost of the fleet. - Keeping in contact with and evaluating suppliers, subcontractors and shipyards by personal contacts, and by obtaining feedback from the Superintendents. - Establishing a strategy for marketing and business development. - Contingency Group Leader, as described in the Company Contingency Plan. - Responsible for press releases and media contacts. - Hire and fire staff within the current rules.
